Why do we have to have a contract when the bosses can do what they want just by giving us 90 days notice, overtime rate cut to normal time, we just have to sign or they say it will be enforced.

The contract is there to protect you as an employee. If you didn't have a contract an employer could just let you go without giving you any notice. Also, a contract ensures that employees abide by certain rules and regulations. If contracts were not in place employees would be able to turn up for work whenever they felt like it and just take holidays whenever they felt like it. |

I think there is a miscommunication here. I think the OP is saying why does he have to sign a contract with an employer that basically gives the employer rights while taking away his.
I think employers feel this need to empower themselves. Often times I see them as unfair to the employee while letting the employer abuse the employee. |

If the company does fall on hard times do you take a cut in wages or become redundant?

Texas is a right to work state. No reason needed to fire someone. I can also quit any time I want. Unemployment pays unless I did something illegal or quit for no reason. You make them fire you then collect unemployment. |
