What's your experience of Employment Tribunals ?

This question is for claimants. Did you have representation ?
What was the outcome ? General feelings about the whole procedure
from start to finish.

I went to the employment tribunal due to an employer not paying me for my job. They were helpful, encouraging and honest. They sent me the paperwork, and I was able to call and get alot of help when filling it out. They got a negotiator to speak to both parties to try to resolve the situation before the court date. Although the employer tried contacting me through various methods, it is best you have no further contact. I told the negotiator this, and she used it as an opportunity to call them and ask them what they wanted to speak to me about.
They decided the day before the court date to back down and agree to pay me my wages. Paperwork was sent to state that this was agreed upon by all parties, and they employer was obliged to pay me within 14 days of this agreement being signed.
All went well. I do recommend using the Employment Tribunal and using the negotiators they supply to you.

yes i did have representation, i found it long winded at times very deep but very detailed and the out come was in my favour

just me
The trick is that tribunals are something that a majority of companies are scared of, they tend to buckle first.

I work in HR and seen some nasty ones, out come of up to £10k. I believe that it's uncapped too.

Take a rep in with you though, if not you have to be very strong mentally or unless you have been treated outside the employment law.

It is not an easy process start to finish but you need to keep your head up throughout it all. The rewards can be massive!
