What are my legal rights?
Find answers to your legal question.

What are my legal rights?

What do you think about this job situation?
I worked for a company that had 3 people go to the hospital for stress-related incidents in the past 2 years. The turnover rate was extremely high. I felt like the atmosphere was abusive, which affected my work performance. Unfortunately, by the time I was about to stand up for myself and for the other workers, I got fired. At the time, I was too exhausted to fight back. Do I have any rights now?

why were you fired?
are you claiming some kind of discrimination?
http://www.eeoc.gov
someone noted OSHA as a possibility, that will be a waste of your time and theirs, stress is not a safety hazard.
someone mentioned "whistle-blowing" whistle blower laws only protect government employees or private sector employees that are reporting a violation that is covered by regulatory commission/agency.

high turnover is in itself expensive and most companies do everything they can to prevent it. so this company will learn from their mistakes or fail one way or the other as far as your involvement that is a moot point.
unless you were under contract and this termination violated a specific clause or you were fired for a protected reason such as discrimination or retaliation then you have no "rights".

did you file for unemployment insurance? did you qualify? was it determined the employer had cause to terminate you? if the employer had cause to terminate you trying to prove anything different now will be next to impossible.

good luck and move on it sounds as if you are better off now then when you worked for this company.

You should contact U.S. Department of Labor, Occupation Safety and Health Administration or your state OSHA for a complaint.

Your termination was resulted from whistleblowing. Therefore, it does not covered by any anti-discrimination.

Really depends,

did you have a contract to work there? Is it a right to work state? Did they fire you for any civil rights reason (i.e. race, color, religion etc...) You have to give more detailed about why they fired you before we can say for sure.

Contact your local Equal Employment Opportunities Commission office and explain your situation.

Probably not.

But why would you stay so long in such a poor work environment.

The best advice is to chalk this one up to experience and move on to better jobs.
