What are some good ideas for a BA if i want to pursue law school later?

i would think for example if i wanted to become a petroleum lawyer a degree in chemistry may be helpful or if i was going to become a family lawyer and do like cps cases a early childhood development degree would be helpful....but what are some good all around good ideas

You can join a law course with any degree. There is no such thing as petroleum lawyer please!! |

You can have a degree in anything but I think it would be to your advantage to have some experience and a background in the area you want to practice. I want to be a family attorney as well and will be looking for Law Schools later this year but I have 7 years experience with the Family Court System including child support enforcement,visitation,custody,divorce so I think that will benefit me when I go into Family Law because I'll already have an idea of the area of practice...Best of luck to you. |

Anything that improves logic, writing, and research is good. Such things as Poly Sci, with a minor in chemistry. |

You can be a lawyer with ANY degree. My best friend is a criminal defense lawyer with a BS in biology! If you know ahead of time what sort of law you want to practice, then find a BA that is complementary. |

You may be limiting your self if you do chemistry. If you are really serious about being a lawyer then I doubt a client would want you to make petrol products for them but would want you to know everthing there is to know about politics, social sciences, perhaps even a bit of philosophy and psychiatry. With these subjects, you can do any type of lawyering.

The easiest possible B.A. Law School additions care about LSAT and your undergrad G.P.A. The higher your G.P.A, the better the law school. Since no B.A. can really prepare you for law school and since your future career will be much better if you get into a great law school, make sure your G.P.A is as hight as possible.
However... if you plan on practicing patent law, you must take a B.S. in a science. Otherwise you will not be admitted to take the patent bar (a special exam to be licensed for the USPTO). |
