Wear good business clothes, even if you are going to wash cars, don't show up dressed for work.
Be punctual, if you are late no one is going to hire you.
Be polite, say yes sir, or yes ma'am.
Know something about the job.
Ask questions, but not about how much money you are going to make and when you get a day off.
Tell them when you can start and if you have any obligations, such as school or taking care of younger siblings that may interfere with your work.
Be honest, talk firmly don't be afraid. |

Dont set any appointments. On the first job you are after ask for the manager right away. Get the managers name. Remember the initial people you see trying to get at the manager are the people you want to take the job from. They will put up smoke screens for you to block you from seeing the manager. NEVER leave your resume or application with anyone but the manager.
Remember some assitant managers will pose as managers while the manager is out to lunch trying to fill their nest with more feathers. Demand names as you talk to anyone and ask repeatedly for names and crudentials.
Remember you are most likely as smart or smarter than the chump interviewing you and you should give a minimum of respect but be wise.
And finally ask for the job after you get a true interview. Dont just walk away and hope for a call back later. Be honest, its the best policy in a lieing world, and you will come out on top. |
