What are the legal reasons for an employer to dismiss an employee?

Using a disciplinary procedure?

I just need a list and maybe a bit of explanation, thank you!

Most companies have you sign a contract before hiring, letting you know that you can be terminated for any reason. It's very hard to prove you've been fired unjustly, especially if its before 90 days. After 6mths you can apply for unemployment, but then you have to prove that you weren't incompetent. It's a whole lot of strings attached. Call unemployment, they'll give you all the details.

Classy Granny
chronic lateness
misuse of break time
not following orders
stealing
not being able to get along with others
not doing you job to their satisfaction
There are probably more. These are all self explained

When you get a job you sign a contract. And if it says "at will" employment then they can fire you for ANYTHING. Like if you showed up late too many times, you dont get along with coworkers, ANYTHING (that isnt discrimination like firing cause you are the only black person in the office or you have a wheelchair etc).
