What can I do about not recieving nay wage slips from an employer?
Find answers to your legal question.

What can I do about not recieving nay wage slips from an employer?

My partner has worked for the company for three months and in this time has not recieved a single wage slip. He has asked his manager (who hasn't had one in the three years he has worked for the company and finds this not strange!) He has asked the area manager who is responsible for them, but it seems he keeps making up excuses. Is there anything we can do? Is it necessary to have one? Thanks

Sorry about the spelling error! :-)

Payment details are between employer and HMRC. HMRC won't give that information out to employees, as it comes under the Data Protection and Official Secrets Acts. Non-payment is a Revenue problem, not employee's.
If employer not paying your partner's tax and NIC, tax office will come down on employer like a ton of hot bricks, and employer will be held liable for the debt. You can always tip off tax office. If you hold any correspondence when partner was offered the job, give tax office a copy, so they can identify who is responsible. If wages paid straight into bank account, give copies of bank statements. If tax office starts an enquiry, employees won't be told of outcome, and employer will not be told of who reported him. If employer remote, it may be a problem identifying who he is, so the more information you can give tax office, the better. The only information tax office gets from employer are the details sent in each year on the annual employer's return in April. Tax office don't know until then how much is being deducted from each employee.
Don't know if they can be of any help, but also try ACAS?

Is he getting a P60 at the end of the financial year in april ? on this it will have all the tax's he's paid.

Just make sure that the employer isn't fiddling the books and not paying his taxes.

OR

phone up the tax office and give the national insurance number and ask them how much tax he's paid in last 3 month

Get in touch with the head office and make your request. If it is still not forthcoming call your tax office and explain the problem, it could be that your employer is not paying your NI or tax which could prove to be a problem.

While I do not know if employers are required by law to provide a check stub or statement each payday, most employers provide 1 every payday.
It shows the hours worked during the period, gross pay,net pay, holiday and overtime pay as well as all the withholdings.
You can contact your state labor dept. to find out.
Some employers have gone to the internet to verify and print out your check stubs yourself from home.
If taxes are not being withheld, you are still responsible for paying them in April.

You could check with the tax office / inland revenue whether his national insurance and PAYE is being paid.

Tell the manager you need their Employers PAYE Reference number as the tax office need it to work out your working tax credits - they will either give it to him or dismiss him for contacting tax office - been their done that and sister is a tax officer, I had a few payslips to show I had it deducted from gross pay, company ceased trading in january and I just won my claim for redundancy money due and NI deduction will be added to my NI towards my pension..
