What can you do when a Customer is verbally abusive to you?
|
I was working as a security guard for a bank a coworker was a teller. For whatever reason she was not allowed to cash a customers check this kid started rambling how he just graduated from college and that she was just some young so and so who was never going to do nothing with her life and blah blah, I still remember till this day because she came outside hurt and crying it was a very demeaning experience. What I felt was bad is the management just gave him what he wanted. after that the guy came out with a smile on his face and told her infront of me (gleefully that he got his money, ) "I told you little girl you need to grow up" and walked away with a smile.
I just want to know if this goes on management isn't really going to do anything about it, is there something you can do leagally.

unfortunately, no.
The bank could have requested that the man leave, and subsequently have him forcibly removed from the building if they felt he was a threat to their assets or staff, or clientele, and they couod have stuck by the decision to not honor the check, and uphold the image of the teller, but there is no recourse for the teller per se, as a result of what she/you feel was verbal abuse in this instance. |

That depends on your company policy....I mean legally, you can say whatever you want to him, but you might end up getting fired. Where I work, I will have told him to get lost and never come back, and maybe some other things, and he wouldn't get what he wanted, but that's just my job. I think it's pathetic how some companies insist "the customer is always right" even when one of their employees is being verbally abused. |

The courts won't waste time on a$$holes unfortunately, unless they do something illegal. Verbal assault doesn't become illegal until he does it repeatedly. Then it becomes harassment. |

Ain't it great when management backs you up for following the policies they've set down like that? I've had abusive customers here, and, thankfully, I've been supported by my management, I think because they've all done the job I do, so they know what it's like. If they don't have your back, then it's time to go. Life is too short. |

I would tell him off behind the management's back. |

You need to remember you don't want to do or say any thing that could be Miss understood. but you are there to keep the peace. I also worked in a branch bank and I all most did harm to a friend the owner of the co. buy being to friendly
to the costumers so I am told. |

um what are you sweet on her and want to be her "knight in shining armor"? there is nothing legal that can be done. If he didnt physically attack her or extensively verbally harass her, there is nothing to be done. However, you can find out where he leaves and then whip his a$*, that's about it.... oh and then she would probably go out with you! |

She can legally get a self esteem. I mean come on a full grown woman crying like a child when a "kid" insults her. She lacks self esteem or mental stability I am just giving her the benefit of the doubt. She can also legally seek mental help. |
