What career would you pick from the following?
Find answers to your legal question.

What career would you pick from the following?

dentistry, law, economics or medicine

Mick H
Dentistry
Law and medicine are both very tough to get established and earn enough to pay back student loans... Too many lawyers have made the first year salaries for most about $34,000. Doctors are having to pay high insurance costs because... there are too many lawyers.
As for economics, it could be a good choice, I just think it is tough to market yourself in today's business environment.

It's amazing that all these professions require many, many years of expensive training and still there's no guarantee that there will be a solid pot of gold at the end of the trail. Their "education" money would be better spent in:

1. Investing in mutual funds with a 12-14% yearly growth;
2. Taking a trade school course in a specialty such as plumbing, electrician, culinary art or fashion design which will provide quick short-term degrees which are readily exercisable and profit generating;
3. Use your education funds to establish a line of business credit at a bank and start up your own business in which there is no limit on profitability.

In conclusion, seeking a professional degree just doesn't make sense at this time, when there are so many people out there, without formal education or degrees, who are making tons of money by investing in themselves; not in higher education.

And by the way, I began my professional career as a Legal Document Specialist with a $12 Sears Typing Manual in Junior High School which allowed me to gravitate into a $75,000 per year career. So, did a college degree help? I think not!

Good luck!

I find all 4 incredibly boring. Economics and law at least give you a chance to do something other than what you studied, which is good.

Medicine would be my choice. So many Doctors today do not care anymore, they are rude, over booked, and really do not care about the patient. Some not all.

Law. Much easier to separate people from their money than in the other fields.
