I'm a junior in high school and I am interested in pursuing a career as a lawyer. Everyone says I would be a great lawyer, but up until now I've never thought of actually trying to make it happen and I have no idea what classes I should be taking now in high school, to get ready for this type of a job. I would also like to know what I should do for schooling, etc. after high school.

Go to college. Major in anything but sociology or political science (there is nothing wrong with taking some of these courses, especially political science; just don't waste your time and talents majoring in either one). Take lots of English classes, especially ones that have heavy writing requirements. Take college math at least, more math if you can manage it. The logic is essential. Take history classes; they tend to be rigorous as a discipline, plus you need to understand history (and not just American history) to understand the law. Read the newspaper every day. While in college, you will take the LSAT, the Law School Admissions Test. That score, your grades, your application, and personal references will all figure largely in your acceptance to law school. Law school is an additional three years after college. It's tough, but very doable if you really want it. In the meantime, you should be thinking about what kind of attorney you would like to be. There is a huge variety of fields and occupations available to law school graduates. |

You have to be determined, true to yourself, and cut throat, go to law school pass your bar exams and get an internship, as far as I know. You also have to do really well on you PSAT |
