What do you call the first 3 months of employment? Probation? Orientation?

Being a manager myself, I call it probation. It's incredibly essential to make sure the employee you just hired is a good fit for your department/organization. Also a good way to weed out any employees with attendance issues...which show lack of reliability and responsibility.

Usually it is called probation, but they will tell you or say if you have that when you are hired or when you go through the orientation.
