I'm a manager and all I get is employes complaining over one thing or another and talk behind me back.It really does bother me when all I'm doing is my job.

It's very difficult to be a manager and have good relations with ALL your employees there's always going to be someone that doesn't like you or doesn't want to work like everyone else..
Have a once a month team mtg... Maybe at a local restaurant over appetizers or something. Make it light, make it fun and let everyone talk and share their feelings about what's been going on in the office/store etc...
Don't put yourself on too high a platform-sooner/later you are bound to fall off... What I mean is.. Even though you are the manager and you are only doing your job- if you rule with an iron fist no one is going to respect you and listen to you.... Help the employees or associates with tasks that even though you are a manager should get done... It shows that you are a team player and NOT the avg. boss. If someone is talking behind your back then call them on the carpet and ask them privately if they have any problems doing their job or with you? Tell them you are willing to listen and help if they have a problem/issue.

You will always have someone who does that regardless of what you do, but maybe you should have a team mtg so that they can bring up concerns in a constructive enviroment. You can always bring up the issues that they are talking about so that you can explain the reason why things have to be done a certain way. Its also a good opportunity for you to hear ideas/sugesstions that you might not thought of. Also maybe you make the employees a bit uncomfortable so that they dont feel they can talk to you. Some things you have to let slide every once in awhile just so there is not constant conflict, kind of like with 2yrs old pick your battles wisely so they dont resent you. |

Call a meeting individually and give them a verbal or written warning! If they keep it up terminate them, they were warned! Remember you are the boss! |
