am working right now but i'd like to pursue my studies and have a master's in Public Ad as my aunt wants and maybe work in the gov't but my cousin insists that i take up law... since we have no lawyer yet in the family..
both seems attractive but i dunno what i really like...
help please?

What if you're father told you to be a military woman because he wants you to..
Your sister tells you to be an Doctor because she said there's no Doctor in the family...
What if the rest of your clan including your friends and relatives want you to be the President of the Philippines...
Do you still think that all of this is attractive??? I think its insane... Not because of the courses and the study... But because of the cheap opinions that you think is attractive....
You must know what you want before you actually choose what you wanna take...
Know your strengths first...
Are you the kind of person who keeps on going when the times go tough or take it slow and evade stressfuk situations at all cost... that is the characteristics of lawyers...
Its now about the job or the career...
Its all about what you can do to excel...
In any career...
Don't listen to people ho thinks that these and that is good for you...
You know what's good for you not them...
Who knows, one of your strengths is to be caring...
Then it would be better if you could be a Good Mother to your children than to defend other peoples sins and anguish in the courtroom...

You have to answer this for yourself do more research found out the perks of each job,one job may make more money but be very stressful and we don't want that. if you become a lawyer don't just accept money jobs don't forget to help out the little guy too! and fight for justice!!! |

A masters is clearly not a professional qualification, which means if you plan to go into a profession you will probably have some further studies.....although I think if you took a masters in law then it could give you some exemptions later if you wanted to do the legal practice certificate etc......
The problem with government is that there are way too many civil servants, the majority of them just mediocre, and the rest useless - if you want to work with a bunch of underachievers then go do it......tho maybe it is different in Phillipines |

Maej, did you know that many government organisations and major companies do their personnel selection on the basis of personality science?
The usual test is called a Myers-Briggs test and you can do a free one on Tickle.com - The Career Personality Test. You will get a report for free (a brief version), it will also have 4 letters such as ESFP, use them to do a web search for free information "+ career". This will give you suggestions based on science. It is even better if you can do your own test, which will enable you to see if you fit on the border of 2 or more (out of the 16) personality 'types'.

You have to decide what you like. You should talk to your school councellor about various career ideas. You may consider getting a job with a local law firm or a place where you would be able to use your degree after college. See if you like it. |
