i am a nanny , i make 400 a week cash , but i work 9 hour days 1 week and the opposite weeks i work 11 hour days, i am a single mom who is 41 and i have 4 older kids of my own , the baby i watch is 1 yr old.
.its hard cause on the 11 hour days i go in at 7 am till 6 pm. and the other weeks i go in at 9 to 6, when i get home at
6pm i have a ton of stuff to do with my own kids , as in homework, dinner , dishes , laundry , showers and that leaves me no time to even have quality time with them for even talking much , i have talked to my boss about this and she says this is what i need from you, i think being she is a doctor she would have more sympathy, it is one of those situations where her and her husband are both doctors and have no time for there own kids , that's where i come in , at 8.00 an hour even if no tax is taken out i think its a bit much for me to put up with . oh i forgot i take there kid whom i adore to a gym class 5 days a week and i asked for gas money they said they pay me enough , as the gym is only 4 miles round trip daily...feeling frustrated ahhhhhhh
any thoughts?

no insurance , no ss, no paid holidays ..i want to say i want at least 10.00 an hour , that is even low , in nevada where i am at nanny pay with experience starts at 12.00
i know its sad i stay with them , but it pays my bills for now .=(

You could ask them for a raise, and see what they say.
You do realize that you are illegally evading taxes, and could be criminally charged or at a minimum have to pay all that you owe plus substantial penalties and interest?
Your employers are also illegally evading taxes, by the way. |

since you are working off the books - which is illegal - and can result in large fine plus back taxes - also you are not getting any credit for ss and should you get hurt you couldn't apply for Workman's comp or are eligible for unemployment insurance -- so with all of these down side things i think i would be beating the bushes for a new job!!! |

pay seems kinda low. you didn't mention any benefits like insurance, etc. Are you paying into social security? |
