What does the word "until" means?
Find answers to your legal question.

What does the word "until" means?

I am in disability right now. Doctor's note stated "until June 11th". Does it mean that I go back on the 12th and I am on leave through June 11th or does it mean I have to go back on the 11th?

It means that you should be ready for work and return to your job on June 11th.

In this case, I'd read the word "until" as meaning "not before" June 11th, which would include June 10th. Then on June 11th you'd go back to work.

You will probably have to get clarification from the doctor on this one. I can see both definitions being plausible. Depends on who is reading the note. Get the doctor or someone from the doctor's office to tell you if you are supposed to go back on the 11th or 12th.
