What does this mean in legal terms?

Normally this term might be used with someone who has written checks knowing there is no money to cover the amount. Other times it might be used when someone writes out a statement which is untrue. It could also mean that a person obtained goods or services fraudulently by giving false or misleading information so that the person offering the goods or services cannot obtain their money.
All it would take for a person to be charged with this is the necessary evidence proving the person knew they were committing a fraud and deception.
It could also be used if the person was using some else's identity knowing it not to be them, such as a false passport or driving documents. Signing documents in some one else's name is also fraudulent.
