i have a DUI from aprox. 5 years ago i do not know if i will be allowed to work at day care :(

they've already hired me and the person who im sopose to ask question to is out until next week.

usually it's just that they're concerned their workers don't have a criminal background, and you appear not to have that so you're ok.
They would be concerned if you would be driving those children somewhere, if you had a DUI, but if you're not going to have any children in your vehicle or theirs then they might bypass a DUI, and especially bypass it if it was long ago. They might watch you for a while now that they know you drink and once were irresponsible, to make sure you don't drink the night before work or the day you work so you'd be thinking straight while on the job. |

Crimes against another person, drug conviction, domestic, assault and really any felony conviction. It depends on how you presented yourself at the interview, being honest on the application and have an explanation. The time since you've been off probation, not convicted it what they look at. The severity of the crime means a lot. As long as you indicated a conviction on the application and they hired you, you should only need an explanation if asked. If your not driving a bus for them and your not drinking on-the-job, you should be OK. |

A DUI from five years ago cannot prohibit you from being a Day Care provider. Only a felony can get you banned. |

if they already hired you then there is no problem if there was an issue when they did the background check then they wouldn't have hired you. |
