What is a good bachelors degree to get if you are wanting to persue law school?

I just recently got out of the medical field and I was going to school for nursing, but I honestly just don't have the heart for it anymore and I have always been interested in law and criminal justice, and since criminal justice doesn't pay well and I have a desire to practice law...I am starting from scratch and have no idea which way is up because I have closed my mind to all of this until recently. I was thinking about a B.S. in Criminal Justice, but every where I read I am seeing that this is not a good idea. So, has anyone been to law school, in law school or just simply have a good idea to help me? Thanks!

Consider a History Major, or better yet Political Science if you want to get a Law Degree after you finish your Bachelors.

It doesn't matter what you get your bachelor's degree in as long as you do well on the LSAT. You basically just have to be able to think critically... some majors that are good for that are math, engineering, philosophy....

First of all, a Criminal Justice degree should only be an Associates. A Bachelor's degree is Criminal Investigation.

Believe it or not, law schools are sick of all the history and political science majors. That's just run of the mill, boring and predictible.

You can really major in anything you want, but what is usually impressive is English or Communications. Law schools want people that can express their thoughts clearly both orally and in writing.

And, if you have any interest in patent law, an engineering degree is a good foundation.

Like someone else said, just get good grades and do well on the LSAT.

And, as for what Stephen T said about all the dissatisfied lawyers . . . a great deal of that is true. But also know I went to law school with many people who never intended to practice law. They wanted to be investigative journalists, investment bankers, etc. and all thought law school would be great training for that. So don't think that a law degree will be a complete waste of time if you don't like being a lawyer. There are other options.

Try to instill your desire to stay in the medical field.....that is a marketable degree......you can get a job anywhere.......law is full and will be full for a long time.
