What is back ground check that is being performed during hiring? What are the areas that the employer look in?

What are the tests the employer will perform during the background check? Ex; Criminal record/ credit checks/ drug policy/. I was terminated from employment (for not reaching the targets of the employer. Will they inform to the new employer?
How to effectively address this problem?

Hopefully you've never committed a felony and you're clean as far as thats concerned. Your credit can be lacking but no serious issues. The drug test usually involves a collection of urine or hair follicle test. The only thing your former employer can say (by law) is answer questions as to your showing up, would they rehire you , these question only require a yes or no. If you don't pass any of the checks, they CANNOT share that info. with anyone. Thats the LAW. Federal by the way |

Depends on firm.
Background check is usually a criminal check.
But many will also contact your last or last two employers, who may or may not divulge this information.
You are generally asked why you left firm--be ready with appropriate answer, and be careful. . . .saying you left because the goals were artificially high and inappropriate may not be good. |

It amazes me how naive people are even Business owners, a former employer can say anything as long as it is the truth, there is no law that covers this, opinion is what gets employers into trouble no the truth |

Well depending on the company they will do a criminal background . and drivers license check. Lots of companies do not do credit checks. If your last company is contacted they cannot say if you were terminated or not. All they can say is that your re-hirable or not. So chances are if you were terminated they will say no to that question which is not a great thing but not a show stopper. |
