Let try the explanation a different way. She asked me for my advice.
I deleted my question because I didn't say it correctly. She has worked there for 8 years and has ran the office and the new boss does not know anything. He argue every point she makes. She dose not cause the argument. He causes it. Even if it is real minor. I have seen it happen over and over. I work there part time. He treats here real bad and dose not respect her. Technically they are both employers. They are hired by the board. He is a little higher up. He seems a little afraid of me. So, he does not do it to me for the time being. He is also a penny pincher and lives in a fantasy world. He thinks everything should be wonderful. For example, you causally say to the boss it is party cloudy, he will say it is either sunny or cloudy.
She was treated like a manager before, now she is treated more like a sectary. Which she is not. The previous manager was a woman. The new one is a man. She tried joking, she tried being direct, she tried being a yes person and still he starts the argument. Here is what it boils down to. It his way or no way. It causing her to lose sleep, not get things done at work (gives her too much work for one person). She is thinking of filling a complaint with the board. Because it coming real close to harassment. There is one other witness that saw this. She is even thinking of talking to the prosecutor.
I do not like any guy treating woman that way.
She would quit but needs the money to survive because of this economy. She wants to at least hang in there for 5 years. He making it real tough for her. I may end up deck-never mind better not say that here. One more thing sectary also need to be respected as well. All people need to respected.

Nonetheless... the new boss is doing nothing wrong. Having a different management style, no matter how abrasive or out of the ordinary it may seem, is not grounds for harassment. Truth be told, quoting your post, it IS his way nor no way... that's part of being a boss (not necessarily a good one). |

If he is not doing anything against the law then the prosecutor can't do anything. The question you need an answer to is whether he is doing anything that is against company policy.
He has a different personality than the last person in his job. The best thing for her to do is to discuss it with him...not argue with him. She needs to let him know that she is not clear on what his expectations are. They are both working toward a common goal and that is to make money for the company. |
