What is the REST BREAK law in a 10 hour day and should it be paid ?

My Husband gets 1 hour UNPAID after 7 hours of a 10 hour shift, but no rest breaks before this....
Does anyone know the legal entitlement??
I wasn't sure whether he should be entitled to a 20 min PAID rest break as he works longer than 6 hours before a break..

Which country? Which state/province? Labor laws vary by country and state. Some states require a 10-minute break every 4 hours. Some require a lunch break of at least 30 minutes if the person works more than 6 hours, but may or may not state when that break happens. Check labor laws for your locality.
As for payment for breaks, that's rarely required, the sole exception being a 10- or 15-minute break some places. Anything longer is "lunch break" and unpaid. |

The law in the UK states that a 20 minute unbroken rest break must be taken for every six hours worked.
Contract of employment should state if these breaks are to be paid or not there is no law that states they have to be paid.
You husband is getting above his legal entitlement but it he needs to inform his employer that he needs it after six hours work not seven. |

The law is a 15 min break every 4 hours of work. I used to give my employees a 15 min break every 2 hours, but any longer than 4 hours and it's breaking the law. |

Work Hours
Question: When must breaks and meal periods be given?
Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does not require breaks or meal periods be given to workers. Some states may have requirements for breaks or meal periods. If you work in a state which does not require breaks or meal periods, these benefits are a matter of agreement between the employer and the employee (or the employee's representative).
