What is the difference between a lawyer and an attorney? Thanks..

An attorney is someone who represents you. A lawyer is an attorney at law. For example:on one occasion I sold a house and could not be present at the closing. Some one represented me who I had given a power of attorney to. He signed my name and his as power of attorney. I had a court case pending against someone. An attorney at law represented me in this situation.
