I currently attend Thomas M. Cooley. I am aware of the bad rep the school has but, at my current pace, I will finish near the top of my class.

The job market is terrible right now. I am a 2L at a Tier 2 school. I'm in the top 7% of my class, and I'm on law review. I've had several interviews at large law firms, but I was rejected from all of them. Firms have really cut down their programs. One firm that I interviewed with used to hire 14 summer associates, and they cut this number down to 5. As a result, they are primarily hiring from Tier 1 schools.
If you want to work in a large law firm, then I'd suggest working really hard and trying to transfer to a top 14, Tier 1, or Tier 2 school. If you do not care about working in BigLaw, then you should be able to find a job without transferring. Good luck! |

Unfortunately, the job market for prospective or newly graduating law students is pretty bleak especially in the private sector. And it's not an issue of one's class standing even from a top ranked law school. Your best bet would be to find a attorney opening in government, i.e., city, county which starts at $75,000 a year in L.A. and Riverside.

It is really bad right now. I also attend a tier 2 school, top 10% on a journal. I have interviewed with about 8 large firms and did not even get a call back. |

Sorry..........without graduating from a tier one school or Daddy owning a law firm..........you won't be able to pay for your student loans.....sorry............tons and tons of lawyers and no work...........
