After 1 year of working with this co., they wanted proof... problem with that is the funeral was in arkansas and it was my real father who I don't really know...Can they do that? After they gave me the 3 days.

Wow. What a holes, but yes they can do that. Although there are no laws that require an employer to give bereavement leave those who do normally expect the employee bring proof. A letter from the funeral home would suffice. |

Why is proof a problem. Get a copy of the death certificate and a copy of your birth certificate listing him as the father. |

I don't know that companies have to give berevment pay.!..It's really up to the company policies( is there more to this story?)...they do funerals different in ark? Proof could be as easy as the obit....showing you as the son.. |

Yes. Some companies require you to bring back a program from the funeral.....just as you would need to bring in a doctor's note when you leave to go to see the doctor.
Have you missed a lot of days at work? Called out a lot? If so, this could be a good reason you were fired.

Yes, they have a right to ask for documentation of the passing of your father. You took advantage of the leave since you did not even really know him to begin with. The company terminated you because of that. They have every right to do so.
If in fact you went to Arkansas to the funeral where is the funeral card or death certificate? |

Get a copy of the death certificate ASAP!!! This is usually easy. Call the county health department of where your father was born. (Guess.) |
