What is to be considered a Legal Document?

This week i finaly got my certificate for a summer progam i did. And im looking the cert. over when i realize that hereby is misspelled... It really says herby. So i was wondering, if there is a misspelled word, is it still considered a legal document? thanks...

An inconsequential misspelling, such as the one in your certificate, would not invalidate a legal document. A misspelled name could cause legal problems though. With regards to your specific issue, there is also the question of whether your certificate would be considered a "legal document" in the first place.

in almost every case it is unless it was purposely spelled wrong to be misleading. contract cases where there is a statement that makes the contract illegal the judge has the right to remove that statement making the rest of the contract legal. so I doubt you could get out of most things by simply pointing out misspellings. unless like I said it was intentionally put in there to be misleading.
