Hey guys.. my job search has been frustrating lately. I finished up a seasonal job in November, that went good.
Job #1.. Well I put in an application with a pest control company.. the guy e-mailed me and wanted to set up an interview.. I had to call him 5 times before he answered. He answers a week later and I told him I was calling to schedule an interview time and he goes, "oh man that position has been filled.."
Job #2.. Filled out an app for a security firm. Got an interview and the guy told me I would hear something Monday at the latest.. well Monday came and didn't hear anything. And it's Thursday.
Job #3.. applied for a construction job, a lady called and did a brief survey and wanted to do a background check.. well she calls my house and leaves a message saying she wants to set up a interview and gives me her cell phone. I call her 15 minutes later and NO answer, I called her twice and left a voicemail.This was 10 am yesterday. WTH!?!?
What do I do about job #3?

Be More Assertive!
When I needed a new position last year. I went to another security company and was pretty much hired immediately. Go to superpages.com and type in security services or guards. Call all of the security companies and ask if their are hiring on the phone. Security has been the fastest way for me to get back to work making a decent wage.
Jobs don't hire as easily as before. You have to keep going and pushing. Continue to call multiple companies in the security sector they hire the fastest.
People for some reason hate security work. Who cares if people make fun of you or don't always respect the job. You are making fairly decent money without tremendous stress.
Also depending on the site like mine it is a Process plant and a Division of Chevron Phillips. I plan to work for Chevron Phillips eventually. This has already beed discussed with my supervisor.
That will be the opportunity to have a so called real job. |

The fact that you follow up is good, keep that up.
I would go to an employment agency, some states have state run ones. After the interview a call thanking them for their time goes a long way.
