My mom has been with her company for 15 years she is the co founder however when the company went public the board fired the founder/CEO and kicked her off the board as well. they are now laying off/ firing people who was/ still associated with the former CEO the new CEO told my mom if she leaves she will have to turn in her car however the car 's loan she co signed and she pays for the gas and drives it both for personal and business . Also she doesn't have a contract because when she started this company the former CEO was her boyfriend and told her that she doesn't need one. Now we have to short sale the house and move and she has to go to the other office because they are getting rid of her division and they will cut her pay and she has 2 months left with that company . is there anything she can do?

The short answer is contact a lawyer who specializes in corporate and employment law. There is too much going on for anyone who is not completely aware of the entire situation to provide you with any guidance. |

There is nothing she can do. The car is company owed and probably written off on company taxes, she has to turn it in.
As far as going public, they are re-structuring the company and are doing major lay offs |

Well that no contract thing was a real mistake.
But according to me NOTHING'S IMPOSSIBLE (Whether EASY or HARD).
Well there is a way, Contact a lawyer gather proofs and if possible get support from public.

The employer can lay her off for any reason. She should definitely file for unemployment as soon as it happens. As for the car, she may be able to keep it since she co-signed for it. If they take it back, make sure the loan in refinanced and her name is taken off. She does not want to be liable for it. |
