What makes a regular document made by me legal? How can I make it become legal?

I was just wondering, how can I make a document I wrote legal, so if someone else signs it, I can present the document to a judge or someone stating that that document was legal and that it had been signed?

A legal what?

If you are just trying to make a legal contract, there are no special requirements. Just write up an agreement which both parties to the contract get something out of (consideration), and both sign it. Technically a contract can be legal without even being written, (although certain kinds of contracts have to be written to be legal, and even when they can be oral you want them in writing to avoid disputes about what was agreed to)

Certain specific kinds of documents have additional requirements. Wills have to be witnessed by two or three people (depending on the state), some documents involving real estate have to be notarized.

"MrKnowItAll" is on target. It depends on what the document is. It also depends on which state you are in - different states have different requirements for different documents.

Some documents have to be notarized.............Some documents have to just be witnessed...........

I REALLY suggest that you consult an attorney before drawing up (also known as writing) ANY legal document. Trying to save a couple of hundred dollars could end up costing you thousands. Consult a lawyer.
