While a Resume is not necessary, you can start to build one today.

While there are Resumes that highlight your work experience, there are other types of resumes as well. You can do one based on skills. If you have skills for the job you are looking for, create a form of a skills based resume. Be sure to include your school (up to current) and any experience that you may have that would be related. For example, if you are the star basketball player for your high school, indicate that as well.

Keep in mind that this can be used as a practice for writing a good resume. There are several sites that will help you build a resume -- Here are a couple:
http://www.resume-help.org/
http://www.resume-resource.com/
http://content.monster.com/resume/home.aspx

If you bring in a resume and cover letter, have a neat appearance, and ask to speak to a manager to file an application, you are more likely to be remembered by the staff. If a manager is present, it will show them that you are really interested in the position.

Keep in mind that you are still likely to have to fill out the application. Be sure to bring something listing people who can act as a reference for you. Some examples are teachers, clergy, anyone you have worked for or with (in our town, students are required to perform a certain number of hours of community service -- whoever you performed the service for/with should be a great reference.)

One tip: Don't type it all in caps.

Agree that they probably just have an application - fill that out as honestly as possible, be upbeat, do some research on the company and be ready for an interview when you go to fill out the application, a lot of the retail establishments will interview and possibly hire you on the spot. For the future - check out monster.com for resume ideas. If you are just out of school, you can highlight your school achievements - honor society, president of a club, etc. It is understandable that someone right out of school (or still in school) hasn't had any work experience - that comes later. I would also guess that working at foot locker, a knowledge of sports - and what shoes are good for what sport might help as well. Not sure though. Good luck!

If you're applying for an entry level job at Footlocker, you don't need a resume. They have job application forms. I'm not making light of the situation or the job, it's just that creating a resume for an entry level retail job is probably going to do more harm than good. Just dress neatly when you go in, print neatly on the application, hand it to the manager personally, and make eye contact, and thank them for considering you.

Half of getting hired for this position is whether or not they have an opening, the other half is being presentable and polite.

did you volunteer in school, or do any extra curricular activities that involved teamwork, relationship skills, how to get along with your peers, hard work, etc.? those usually count when considering your resume

If your applying to a place like Footlocker or any minumum wage job you don't need a resume. If this is your first job you won't put anything down on the application besides your name, address and everything else on it besides job experience.
