What would happen if I worked at a Asian restaurant at 14?

I want to work over the summer at my neighbors Cambodian/Vietnamese restaurant over the summer but he sadly told me that child labor laws say I'm too young at 14 and they check his restaurant regularly because its an Asian restaurant and I want to know a way to get passed it by working there w/out either getting caught by the government when they go in his restaurant or work there by finding a loop hole to avoid the child labor laws. I was upset when I heard this cause I wanted to save up for a better laptop or something good while working there
Additional Details
BTW: I was going to wait tables and maybe get orders, why would child labor laws care? I want to do this, why wont they just understand if I say that if somehow I'm working there one day.
