Okay..I put my notice in at my job. It's actually a months notice. I sent it in a email to My supervisor, The head of my department and also his secretary, because she handles all the stuff papers and pay roll. All I said was "to whom it may concern: my last day would be(......). Thanks"
I come in to work and check my email, and Someone (the head of the departments secretary sent me a reply, that was not suppose to come to me, it was suppose to go to someone else} It said "Yes she's a body, but I don't think it's a great loss. Next time she wants to come back full time, I guess we'll think twice."
Like I said. I wasn't supposed to get this email. She sent it to me by accident. I work at a hospital, I have a clinical position. This secretary I have only seen 2times in the 4years that I have been there. I am a good employee, have never been written up, I help people and I work really really hard. What should I do. Who do I go to about this.
Is this something I can sue for?

No you can't sue. It's someone's opinion of you. You got your feelings hurt. Do you think you should be sued everytime you hurt someone's feelings? |

your notice of intent to leave your employment was rather lame and unprofessional.
the secretary's reply was in response to your email. there probably was a lot more discussion about you than you realize. i bet it was not good, more about how you resigned rather than how you will be missed.
why do you care, you are leaving and most likely will not get a good recommendation from this employeer or be elgible for re-hire.
sue them? for what? the mere fact that you question sueing says a lot about your character or lack of. |

Talk to the head of your department once again or contact his secretary and let her know about your complaint. Maybe they could write up that ..... and you will be set. |

Well, the email was probably an intentional jab back at you. It's hard to believe that someone would be that careless.If it were me I would reply including the text of her email and say something to the effect of:
Dear xxx,
After receiving this email, I just wanted to take a moment to express my regret about resigning but felt that giving a month's notice was more than fair. During my employment here I have tried to perform my duties in a timely and professional manner and felt I had done so absent any disciplinary write-ups on my record. If I have handled my resignation improperly, please accept my sincere apology, it was not my intent to generate any negative feelings. I have enjoyed my position and wish to leave on good terms and regret that my resignation was ill-received.

She probably will feel like an a$$ and it will show a little class on your part. I'm sure it was meant to belittle you and she won't expect a reply. And if it was sent by mistake, her obvious carelessness should be quite humbling.And, no, you can't sue. |
