my husband was previously married to a very stupid girl, and she walked away with everything he agreed she could have it all because he wanted to break away clean. Well she is claiming he owes money for some bills, equalling 500 bucks, we just got letters from courts saying she filed bankruptcy so she wont be paying her half of things, he is said before that to giver her 500, should we still give it to her? She isnt paying bills, i feel like we are giving our hard earned money to her to go shopping. what do you think???

he was sued by her, that was the deal he had to pay her 500 to pay the bills but now that she claimed bankruptcy, i know she is not paying the bills. id rather pay the company then her. i just dont think she needs anything especially since they agreed all things were settled in the divorce papers!

I wish there was an easy way for me to see if you are American or not. Yahoo needs to work on this. I am on AUSTRALIAN Yahoo, therefore you would expect me to only see Australian questions...
Anyway, that point was about different laws in different places. I believe you might be able to apply to the court for them to make a court order that your husband pays the companies in question, and not directly to that woman. |

Legally, you still have to pay her. If you don't, your husband could be found in contempt. If the court decided he owes her money, then he owes her money. The money is then hers and she can do with it whatever she wants.
I know that isn't the answer you want to hear, but it is the right answer.
Just pay her and be done with it. |

If she filed for bankruptcy and charged off those debts then she has no right to sue for something that is charged off. It will never fly in court. In order for her to have a right to sue she must get that debt off of the bankruptcy and make it active and then sue. Other wise she cannot sue for money that it has been charge off already. |

I wouldn't give her 10 cents. If he really owes her the money, she will have to sue him (or at least if I were he). If he owes it to the creditors, they will contact him directly. |
