Yes, that is considered an illegal interview question.
The interviewer can ask something like, "Do you have other responsibilities that may interfere with your ability to meet the requirements of the job?"
However, they cannot ask about marital or parental status.
It sounds like the interviewer is just ignorant of the law, not necessarily trying to actively discriminate.

Yes that is illegal. If they did not hire you because you have children, then that would be discrimination. |

yeah, there are questions you arent aloud to ask in an interview, such as religion, parents & siblings, orientation, spouse, madden name, children, ancestors, there are many more, but those are just the ones that i could think of off the top of my head. but yeah it's illegal. i took a class in buisness and we had a whole unit on this. |
