When working a full 12 hour day on Saturdays...is it legal for an employer to pay only till noon one week?
|
I work 12 hour days..every other week I work Mon..Tues..Fri..Sat..Sun..I use to get paid for Mon thru Sat..48 hours..my employer has changed that to paying me Monday thru Sat till noon and the other 6 hours go on my next weeks pay. Is it legal to falsify my time card and put my check out time at noon when I work the whole day?

I have to agree with Steve. It is a common practice and is legal. A lot of government agencies that have alternative work schedules (9/80 where one works 9 hour days 4 days a week, one 8 hour day once a week and has a day off the other week) do that for non-exempt employees so overtime isn't necessary. The employer that I work at does that, except the work week ends on Wednesday at noon and the following work week begins at 12:01 pm.
Basically, your employer has it set up that the work week ends at noon on Saturday and the following pay period begins at 12:01 pm on Saturday. |

Each company sets their own rules with regard to when the pay period ends. If that business has a policy which states that the pay period ends at noon on Saturday, then as long as each hour you worked IS eventually paid, and the time records accurately reflect that you did work a full twelve hours that day...the business is in the clear.
Many people who work overnight shifts encounter this same thing. The time reporting ends at midnight on a set date, but they may not get off until 6am. So the days hours go on two seperate paychecks. |

I doubt it..it sounds like he is trying to worm out of paying over time.
Give labour laws a call..and tell them what is happening. |

It is illegal to alter a time card. Does he save on ot by doing this? Call the labor board. If you like your job, if you dont loose too much pay, you might want to be happy yo have a job, many are taking pay cuts or being let go, wiegh out the options |
