Hiring a lawyer for minor legal problems can be expensive, but there are websites like LawGuru, FindLaw and other places where you can get free legal advice. I found this website useful - http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.html

Check out Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc. They have plans for $17 a month so you don't have to pay the $200 an hour for and attorney. They have top rated attorneys and will advise you on your rights in any situation. Depending on what state you are in the $17 a month covers a large amount of common issues people run into everyday.
Here is a link for more information about the membership:

Call or email me if you have any questions

Some lawyers take cases for free - on a 'pro bono' basis, but you'll have to check around. Depending on what you need a lawyer for, you may want to check any local community service organizations, as they may be able to make more informed referrals for your situation. Also, you can check on the web for your local "legal aid society' as they can also point you in the right direction.

Depending on the nature of what you need the legal help for, you may qualify for legal aid - but they only do certain types of law.

You might be able to convince an attorney to take your case on a contingency basis - if it's a really good case.

What is the nature of the claim you want to bring?
