I am a very well educated ex-felon that can not find good work any where. I have 5 children and a wife with bills. Fast foods jobs just wont get it.

Work for yourself, contact your parole or probation service to see if there is any funding or grant available for someone like yourself to start your own business, say a landscaping and design service, if you are well educated this shouldnt be a problem for you and even the books can be done by yourself if you keep to the straight and narrow, i wish you success, you can do it, but only if you try......................... |

Start your own busines. Barber, Extra for felon in movies, Wholesale license, Real Est., Invest in buying and selling HUB houses. Also, be counselor for other felon. Good luck. |

I don't know where you are or what your trade is. I would go to the place I would like to apply and ask to speak to the manager. Tell him before you waste his time you would like to know the policy on hireing ex felons. Go from there. There are alot business men and woman that believe that you have paid your debt to society. Have your resume' ready you just might be in an interview while your talking to the manager.

If you are willing to work in a fast food restaurant, I am assuming that physical labor is something that is not necessarily intimidating. Currently, there is a lot of work being done in the gasoline refining industry and will continue. This work is referred to as Turnaround work, where they do a lot of work on processing units in the shortest time possible to be safe. The pay is very good and typically overtime is consistent. The only issue is that it will require you to travel in some cases, but will compensate your for that. They can end up making making $20-30/hour. Some companies are JVI, Incoporated, Timec, Brinderson, etc. |

If the felony was more than seven years ago, you can pretty much work any where. If it was more recent than that stick to larger companies. They will hire people with "backgrounds" as long as the offense dosen't conflict with a skill of the job.
Smaller companies will work with you. But mid size companies (50-300 employees) forget it. They are the most inflexible. |

It depends on what state you live in, and what kind of work you are looking for. I know in Arizona there are alot of construction jobs available that do not check your history. Some of them pay quite well. |
