my employer wants me to sign to give 1 months notice for resignation. I'm pretty sure that in australia it's two weeks. Where can I find legal info that says so?

Depends on the state you are in...
However in most states you are not required to give any notice legally. People do it to be polite....
However how much notice would they give you, if you were terminated. Use this to determine how much notice to give them. |

There is no set or standard notice period in Australia. Notice periods vary with industries, roles and employers, and it usually comes down to the terms of your employment contract. Although it's hard to judge your particular situation without knowing more about your employer and the role, a notice period of one month is very common in white collar roles. Shorter notice periods are more likely in blue collar and junior roles, where the notice period is sometimes the same as the pay frequency. Also, don't forget that it's a two way street, and your employer has to give you the same amount of notice as well. |

Your employment contract should state the period on notice you need to give. If you dont give this required amount they will usually not pay out your leave entitlements or pay your wage the amount of time required. |
