Which is the better career: dentist or lawyer?

I'm really torn between the two. I'm going to enter college next year, so I do still have time to think about it. I think I want to be a lawyer more, but I'm not sure if I would like the potential long hours.
Advice?

I read recently that not very many people are going into dentristry, and that average incomes have risen to approximately $185,000 per year for a dentist, bypassing the income for a general practice doctor for the first time (and working a lot fewer hours, as well).

However, these are two VERY different fields--I think you need to ask yourself which you are more suited for and which you would enjoy more. You are going to be working, presumably, in this field for the next 30-40 years . . .

Hi, first of all, I feel like I have to say sorry to hear that the previous poster's regretful narrative.

Anyway, what I think most important to choose your education and career goal is which field you are most interested and talented in.

The four years of college life, plus the additional five to six years of graduate school years, plus the possible extra period you will need to prepare for the exams are never short period.

Of course, to evaluate the prestige of each job - dentist or lawyer - will not be easy because both jobs are almost equally admired for their professional and prestigious reputation.

But, for me, I cannot even directly look into the blood and I cannot see other processes required during medical operation, so I have chosen lawyer as my career goal.

I have no regret at all about that I haven't learned more scientific and medical subjects because now I don't think I have wasted any of my school years since every single material - the readings and writings - I studied is immensely helpful for my analytical thinking and criticism.

So, what I am trying to tell you is, the legal and dental fields are very distinctive from each other. Therefore, you'd want to make sure if your interest and talent lean towards the medical science or the social humanities. Then, you'll be ready to spend years in the field you truly want to study and pursue in future.

Good Luck~

Dentist.

Lawyers have 'liar' as a job requirement. A lawyer told me one time that his job is to make truth a lie and lies the truth; yes, this came DIRECTLY from a lawyer.

Go with dentist; FAR more honorable.

If you don't want the truth, don't ask.
