Who should I ask for legal advice concerning a work contract?

I have just received a contract to apprentice and eventually work in a tattoo/piercing shop. I would like someone to look it over before I sign it, but I'm not sure who to contact and from that point how long it might take... thank you in advance =)

Any lawyer can check a contract over for you. If you don't know a good lawyer check the yellow pages and find one who has an office near you.

Go to your phone book. Call your local (usually county) bar association. Ask for names of attorneys that handle contract law. When you contact the law office(s), make sure you talk to the LAWYER, not the secretary - save the details for the Lawyer. Insist on speaking to the lawyer - ask the lawyer #1 first thing about his/her fee - do they take payments? how much will it be? do they have free first initial meetings? If the secretary insists that you tell him/her the details and then proceeds to give you any advice, thats Unauthorized Practice of Law - insist on speaking to the Attorney.

contact the BBB this will tell you if they have any complaints on your employer.

Good luck!
