Employers are hiring for themselves, not anyone else. But the good news is: If you don't like the offer or job, you can always get a new one! |

It is sad that employers act like they are the only one interviewing. Potential employees are interviewing them too. Once I turned down a job after the interview b/c I learned in the interview that it wasn't really what I wanted and they acted so insulted, like they just expected me to want their stupid job. |

Why would you assume that they do? My company knows there are other jobs out there. There may be larger companies that can offer better, but they strive to stay competitive at the level they think they are at.
They can't just go giving away the world because there are other offers -- chances are pretty good that the other offers aren't any better. |

They will be trying to sell you the job , just the same as you are trying to impress them with your qualities .
All interviews should be a two way thing , and so long as what the employer tells you is truthful and not misleading I see no problem in them highlighting what the job could offer the right candidate. |

back at you with.... why do you think you are the only one that applied? An employer generally has a whole range of people to choose from when making an appointment and far more to think about than you can probably imagine especially if it is a relatively small business.
If they pick the wrong employee say someone who tells them they can do the job and in fact they cant or dont really want to, or they are just filling in time before going back to uni to waste another year then that can have a serious knock on effect throughpout the business. For instance if te boss needs to spend more time than he thought training because the person is not qualified as they say then that cuts into the time he can spend being productive within the business i.e. invairiably this means that the turnover of the business will suffer. This means the company will not make as much money; which means that the company may not be able to pay the bills; which means that other people may not keep their jobs. Simple maths really.
Why does the whole world assume because you are the boss of a business that you are wealthy and can be sponged off. |
