Why would someone employ someone who cant sew and is the job they have to do.?

Very few people know how to sew anymore. Perhaps the employer is willing to train the new employee. By training her, she can teach the employee to do things the "right" way because the person has not yet developed any bad sewing habits. Also, if the sewing skills required will be limited in number, then it wouldn't be hard to teach the employee to do just those things. For example, in sewing factories, a machine operator has to learn to sew just one type of seam and that person will do it thousands of times.

I suspect that if the employee isn't able to learn to do the job, she won't be around long.

Entry level job. They may have hired hoping to train for some specific technique too, wanting to avoid the habits of more experienced people.

sewing is the art one acquires after practice. So it is nice if you are not knowing sewing and are taken for job which needs sewing . you may be fulfilling other criterions like education, interest in work , learning new things, your nature, your personality your looks and your coordiality with Bosses all may be making you fit for the job you may have applied for where sewing is must but you do not know sewing

Sometimes it's all about looks, personality and who you know.
Skill, talent--what's that?

Maybe they are getting a financial incentive through an employment program to hire the person despite lack of skill--which can be learned by the way.

Not all people perform at the same level even if getting paid the same rate, espesially a new person against a seasoned pro.

Time can change things.

That gives me the needle as well, cotton on yet.

Well they might employ them, so they can train them or take on a role that does not require sewing......

People are weird nothing you can do about it.
I applied for a job in 1976 as an invoice control clerk, I told the woman I didn't know anything about invoices, couldn't type and had bad handwriting she asked why I applied for the job and I told her I needed the work. She asked what I did before and I told her I had been a bookkeeper doing bank recs fiancial statements and things. She had been working on a bank rec for 4 days so she said if I did the bank recs she would do the invoices. So she hired me for a job I was totally unqualified for and I was there 18 months and never did a single invoice. I did payroll, AR, AP, financial statement and the dreaded bank recs. She was an owner so could do what she wanted so hiring me worked out even if I couldn't do the job.
