I was rec'ing unemployment, when I interviewed for a part time job they told me I would most likely work close to 40 hours(this is not in writing) I started the job and I only get 30hrs a week. I am still on probation for that job and want to leave because I only make a few dollars more than I was getting on unemployment. I can't pay my mortgage even with a months pay and it is a struggle for me to say there. I have two choices (for sake of having a roof) move to another state where my job is not, so I cant transfer or back to my home city where it can transfer but I don't know if they will. I am in Fl and home is S.C. will I be able to get unemployment? I will be filing for unemployment in Fl. I have another problem I attend U of Phoenix and can only miss 1 time per class and each class is 5 weeks, but I finish in April, what I want to do it stay here as long as possible to finish school, but I want to get unemployment until then. Please leave serious answers, I have kids and need to make the right decision.

If you quit you will not get unemployment benefits. You'll just need to stay there and look for something else while you are employed.

Have you tried getting a student job or using the university employment office? Many companies interview at the University and hire students. Try using your university employment office first. |

I think that you are running in circles, and you will get no place.
Contact the department of employment, and make an appointment to go and talk to a counselor. The key word is 'job stress', and they will tell you how to go from one job to the next without messing up.
I had a job long time ago, and I wanted to just walk out, but I could not afford to go without money. I call them and I went in and talk to a counselor. She told me what to do and what not to do; my boss would scream at the workers when he was upset.
She told me to keep a log of what was say to me or the other workers that made me feel uncomfortable. Two weeks later, I went to lunch and drove directly over to the department of employment. I got my unemployment check two weeks later.
They have classes at the office, and I went to school every day from 9-4 pm, I took an accounting class and draw my unemployment at the same time. The instructor was an accountant who got laid off, and they hired her to work for them.
There is another resource call the One Stop Center or Career Center, they have branches all over the US. They have everything at that location; job bulletins from all over the US, workshop, classes, resume services, fax, copies, computers, no charge. |
