I was at work on bank holiday monday (2nd May 2011) and I was learning how to use the new rotiserie ovens. I had 3-4 minutes training on them before the guy training me went to lunch. When the chickens are ready to come out an alarm is supposed to sound. I wasn't told this. When I went to check on the chickens the timer was flashing which I assumed meant the chickens were ready. I opened the oven to check the temperature but they weren't quite ready to come out. I tried to shut the door but couldn't shut it. I went away for a few minutes before going back to try again with no luck. This time another colleague tried to help me and neither of us could shut the door. we went away again before I tried again to shut the oven door. I couldn't. I opened the door again to see if anything was stopping it from closing and as i opened it the inside glass fell out. I have been suspended over this. It's the first time I've been suspended. I feel I wasn't properly trained on using the ovens. I've never had a verbal or written warning before. Is it likely i might get the sack?
