Workers comp question?

Can someone receiving workers comp do an independent contractor job (3 days, one promotional job) and continue to receive the workers comp benefits?

either you can or can not work..........
if you can and don't return to your job they have every right as well as the legal grounds to terminate you and the insurance carrier can discontinue paying any benefits.

if the doctors have released you to lite-duty and the employer does not have work that qualifies then you can not work until you have a full release or they provide the lite-duty work.

drawing benefits under workers compensation insurance and working at another job is FRAUD and you can lose benefits and be prosecuted.

It depends on your medical condition and approval from your adjuster.

For example, you are restricted by your doctor from prolong standing. You are paid full WC because your current job requires prolong standing. If your independent contract is a typist (sitting) only and you have been working before the injury, the adjuster may have to choose either compensate you or allow you to continue to work.

But approval usually assoicates with reduced benefit.

It depends on the actual claim. You can work and still collect worker's compensation. It depends on the situation of the claim. If you are stating that your back hurts and you are light duty but are doing a side construction job then no.

it usually depends on if the doctor says your able to work or not...if ok'd light duty or full work, you should be ok...but if he said no work and your off from the job your receiving the benefits from, they can deny your claim because you could cause further damage

either way, i wouldn't recommend it
