Would a judgment in 2002 on my record be a possible reason I am having trouble getting a job?

Would a judgment in 2002 on my record be a possible reason I am having trouble getting a job?

we also filed bankruptcy which should have discharged this but it's still on file. I am being excluded from jobs because of this?

It may be possible. If this is the case, the employer is required to tell you the reason.

speaking from personal problem, judgement will have to be satisified, then make sure that it is removed from record. yhey do not have to inform you of any thing concerning judgement. been there
that is why i know.

Some companies are now using credit reports to check on potential employees - especially those where the job has the potential for them to handle money. They don't want to take the risk of stealing and don't want the aggravation of having to garnish wages.

It could be.

As someone who does the hiring at the company I work for, I do look at things like this. Most of the jobs I am looking to fill do not involve any access to monies or any financial work, so I would probably consider something more than 5 years old not to be a factor. But many companies probably do take this into consideration.

Look at it this way, if you have two equally qualified candidates and one has had some problems in the past, and the other hasn't, many would chose the candidate who hasn't had problems.

My advice would be to be very upfront about this. Many may take that into consideration in their decision.

It depends on your profession. If you are an accountant and trying to get a job with a large corporation I would say yes. But for a lot of jobs the employers don't even care. Also, if you are applying for jobs that require a security clearance it would be difficult for you to get hired.
