It depends entirely on your current contract.
A lot of companies need to be informed if you take a second or a part time job as it could cause a conflict of interest.

Of course it will affect your tax and NI. You will be earning more therefore probably have to pay more in taxes.

You shouldn't have to tell your employer however - check your Terms and conditions of your contract.

The more you earn the more tax you will pay & NI

It depends on your contract of employment.

Your employer is obliged to make sure that you're not working more than 47 hours a week , or that you've opted out of that part of the Working Time Directive. If they know you have another job, they will have to look at how many hours in total.

Your tax and NI will be very high on your 'second job'. You need to speak to the tax office so that the one that they class as your second job is the one where you earn the least money (that way, you'll play less tax over all).

you will have to read your contract as some say that you have to seek permission before taking up another job, just in case it affects you main job i.e. if you worked in a bar all night you may not be able to get enough sleep to function in your day job.
tax and NI is usually based on your total income I think

If you are in the US you are not required to inform the employer of a different part-time position unless you signed an agreement or company policy asking you to disclose. You also need to make sure your other position is not with a competitor, and will not interfere with your hours at your full-time job.

Taxes? There are a lot of variables depending on your personal situation. I'll refer that question to the CPA's on this forum!

Good luck!

You may not be obligated to tell them, but from personal experience, and depending on the job/employer, it sure helps your rapport with them if you do. I think an employer likes it when someone is up front and transparent with them, like "hey, just to let you know I've been needing some extra cash so I've taken another job during my off hours; but I've made sure it won't disrupt my schedule or performance with you at all, this is still my primary commitment. I just wanted you to know."
