Can you be fined for making a simple mistake? I live in TN and my manger fines us 50 cents every time we slip up. I mean maybe forgetting to put a trash bag in a trash can. Is the legal?

as long as you still make at least minimum wage for every hour worked during the work--week, it is legal to make deductions from your wages for an error such as a cash shortage.

charging you cash for simple mistakes is generally NOT legal,
for the employer to charge you they must be able to document the exact cost to the business and a simple error such as a trash bag probably can NOT have a value assigned to it........ they must make the deduction as a part of your pay and can NOT make you pay cash to circumvent the law.....
