ok i was seven months pregnant when i started my job at steak n shake. first when i got there they was having me do drivethru then they had me doing dishes in the back with the automatic so i had to lift the heavy trays to get them to dry... then when i became 8 months pregnant the store went out of power an they had me outside an i got caught in the wind an it made me fall i had to go to the hospital..... then they didnt say anything but are u alright.... then at nine months pregnant they had me scrubbin selves on the floor an i felt like my legs were killing me.... an GET this they had a huddle meetin an said as of now we are inforcing the cell phone rule an the black socks rule .... well i had already called in an told him that i had no ride to work an it was comin that i would be late boss josh clarke says fine its ok so then im dumping frys an he says lift ur pants legs up let me see ur sock .... at nine months pregant n i say no he says let me see so he sees my lite purple low low cut see thru socks an says rite on spot after ten mins of that rule being inforced he says GO hOME an i say pls let me stay i was in the back an he said no then i had to wait on my ride an my co worker james fetz txts me an says come back to work bc the boss josh is mad that ur not back i said i am not coming back i am home not an i am fed up an he said well he might get mad an not keep u an say ur fired so i started cryin i already have one kid then two......i keep bothering them then they say i could have my job back wen they hire everyone else back an he says sorry the main manager left our store he cant help u now an this is not josh he is still there ...... i tell josh i have to pay bills pls get me back he said im not trying to hear ur sad store goodbye i freaked out an before all this a manager named sherry yelled in my face at seven months pregnant an made me cry she is an acoholic an she didnt care..... Additional Details ok i understand what u guys are sayin but when ur a devoted worker as it is to be 18 have 2 kids an have a home u own do u honestly think i was trying to get into trouble..... they would hire back people that were females that had just got fired for taking too many pills on job site dealing drugs ........ a worker named jason actually on new years eve at 11:00 pm told the drunken manager sherrie that she was a ***** out loud an knocked over a mop rollin bucket that was not cool i never got in any bodys face i did my work an got out working long shifts .... but sherri felt bad bc he left on his bike an he was a 24 year old man an then she callled in another manager an told him she feels bad for fireing him she needs him that night so they bring him back an at least i made an effort to try an get my job back an i am a perfectly good employee very beautiful

None of this sounds like discrimination.
If you shouldn't have been doing some of the tasks at your job because of your pregnancy (the lifting, bending over, etc) then you should have brought in a note from your doctor and flat-out refused to do those tasks.
As far as the socks go, you were violating a rule. The fact that they decided to actually enforce it without any prior warning was probably not the best way to do it, but, at the same time, you were in violation of a dress code policy. He had every right to send you (and any other employee not wearing black socks) home immediately. |

Nothing happened to you because you were pregnant. You got in trouble for violating their dress code.
What does being 9 months pregnant have to do with your manager asking to see your socks? Nothing. You chose to work so close to the end of your pregnancy. They didn't make you do it. And they didn't treat you any differently than anyone else because you were pregnant. The fact that they hired you when you were seven months along is a pretty good show to me that they don't care you're pregnant or not and that their actions had nothing to do with it. |

No, it sounds like the opposite of discrimination to me. They were just holding you to the same dress code standards as everyone else. You shouldn't have broken it if you knew the rules.
Try applying elsewhere after the baby. |
