job loss and benefits lost?, please help!?
Find answers to your legal question.

job loss and benefits lost?, please help!?

i fear i am going to lose my job - not for anything ive done wrong, but because i feel i am being constructively dismissed. i have done nothing but a good job, and i have many emails of praise before this all started. what i am dead scared of is that i also rely on benefit as i am a single parent, and ive heard that if you lose your job for certain reasons then you no longer qualify for benefit.

i am so scared that i will lose my job and also my benefit, which will make me and my little boy homeless.

please, someone from UK who knows the law, please can you advise me?

questions: -what reasons can an employer terminate your employment for that will not be considered your 'fault' by the benefits teams of the council so that you still get benefit???

- what can i do??? i am sick over this with worry.

please help, thanks

firstly they can not just decide they want someone else and you get fired, they must have a reason e.g. not doing your job, alcohol or drug abuse, not turning up, too much time off sick without doctors letters and antisocial behaviour which affects other people around you.

If none of that applies to you then, if they are trying to make you leave or you feel you are being pushed out talk to ACAS www.acas.org.uk read through the site before phoning them.

If you are suddenly out of employment as you have a child you will get income support, this will also pay council tax and housing benefit. As you think it is constructive dismissal, they will advise you to go through ACAS to start a tribunal. After 6 weeks on income support and depending how your case is proceeding, you may then be transferred on to job seekers allowance. However you will not be left without money or a roof over your head.

It might be difficult not worrying but reading through the ACAS site, and maybe calling them for someone to talk to over the phone should put your mind at ease until you can get this sorted.

good luck

Visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau - they are free, and are on your side. They have experts in Employment law, who will make sure that your employer has to do everything properly (the expert will help you nail an employer who does constructive dismissal).

They also have xperts in Benefits, who help you get what you are entitled to.

I believe that you are worried because you don't know what your rights are - read the CAB website while you are waiting to get in to see them. Knowing will help you stop worrying.

you qualify for more benefit if youlose your job. dont worry.

Don't stress if you are fired you can claim, normally their are exceptions the area is grey they say that if you loose your job due to reasons beyond your control, to cover yourself say that you lost your job due to cuts and the department/company were saving money, this is acceptable and your benefit will be fine.
