I work at child care center, which includes a preschool. My job is to give breaks to the workers who take care of the toddlers. Well, its at our local ymca, and each age group has their days to go the wading pool. Yesterday, out of nowhere, one of the workers told me that she would rather not even go the pool at all if I had to go with her because the children were not "safe" with me there. Later that same day, I was GVIng another teacher a break, and the class was small enough to where we only needed one teacher in there. Well, she asked me to join in with another class so the ohter teachers could "keep an eye on me." It was also supposed to be that class's swim time, but she wouldn't let me take them swimming because the children would not be safe with me.
Today, I came in to give someone a break. It was close to thier "swim time," and the assistant teacher told the lead teacher (right in front of me) that she would wait until she got back to take the kids to the pool because the kids werent safe with me. I have nothing to put any of the children in danger, so I am not sure what is going on.
What do I do?

Ask them what they mean saying that they children are not safe with you. If they are not safe with you, then why are you allowed to work there?
How long have you been working there? What is your age?
You really need to find out what their issue is with you. |
